Well today was the day we expected lambing to begin, and Good Daughter came through with twins this evening. They are our first Romnesian lambs, (East Friesian x Romney crosses) with Mitt the Romney as their father. They are both girls (yay!)–one black and one white. The white girl is particularly exciting, because she carries Mitt’s recessive color gene and a white gene from her mother, so when we breed her back to a recessive-colored Romney ram, we will have the chance of recessive-colored Romnesian lambs from her. We named the girls Neva and Rose, in honor of my cousin Linda’s grand-daughter, Neva Rose, born to Linda’s daughter Josi and her husband Karl two days ago in Idaho.
