The Monterey Wool-show Results are In…

Our fleeces did really well at this year’s Monterey wool judging! We got 4 first places and two Reserve Champions, in the Breed Division and Market Division.

Our colored Romney ewe Brenda placed first in the Romney breed class, and was Reserve Champion for the Breed Division. Our colored Romney ram Sky King placed 3rd in the Romney breed class.

Our white 50% Cormo ewe Snowdrop took first place in the 3/8 Blood class (fiber diameter 24.9 to 27.8 microns) in the Market Division and went on to get Reserve Champion in that division.

Bingo, a “Romnesian” ewe (half E. Friesian, half Romney) placed first in the Low 1/4 Blood class (fiber diameter >31 microns), Market Division, and our white Romney ewe Gladys placed 2nd in that class. Blossom placed 1st in the low 1/4 blood class in the Colored Wool Division, and Poppy took 2nd place in that same class.

All the fleeces will be on sale at the Monterey Wool Auction on Labor Day at the Monterey County Fair.

I don’t have portraits of all the winners, including our two Reserve Champions! But here are a few photos I do have of the winners. Melinda and I need to get out there and snap some more portraits!
