This worsted-weight 3-ply yarn was spun for us by Mendocino Wool Mill in Ukiah, CA, from a trio of fleeces from Frieda, a “Friedale” (half Corriedale half East Friesian), Goldrush, a “Romnesian” ewe (half Romney, half East Friesian) and Dale, our Corriedale ram. I mordanted the yarn and dyed it to a yummy caramel color with dahlia flowers grown by our friend Fran in Big Sur.
This yarn is technically worsted weight, but quite compact for its weight. It knits up lighter than a typical worsted weight, and you will see it knits upwtih a finer gauge. I find it works well in patterns calling for light-worsted to DK-weight yarn.
200 yards per 4 oz skein. Gauge: 4 – 5 stitches/inch on size 7 to 9 needles.
