Worsted-Weight Yarn: Hand-dyed with Redbud (Lot 2)

This worsted-weight 3-ply yarn was spun for us by Mendocino Wool Mill in Ukiah, CA, from a trio of fleeces from Frieda, a “Friedale” (half Corriedale half East Friesian), Goldrush, a “Romnesian” ewe (half Romney, half East Friesian) and Dale, our Corriedale ram.  I mordanted the yarn and dyed it in a redbud bath modified with iron to produce a pale moss-green. This color blends beautifully with the Redbud Lot 1.

This yarn is technically worsted weight, but quite compact for its weight. It knits up lighter than a typical worsted weight.

200 yards per 4 oz skein. Gauge: 4 – 5 stitches/inch on size 7 to 9 needles.
